Caravan
service advice: Where-ever you decide to have you caravan
serviced or maintained, please make sure the work is carried out by
an 'Approved Workshop' to give you an assurance that any work is being
carried out by competent staff.
A few people decide that it is easier and cheaper to employ a mobile
caravan mechanic to complete the work, only to find at a later date
that it not only has invalidated their warranty, but there is little
come back to the work completed.
By using a trusted main dealer who has an 'Approved Workshop' should
give you the confidence that there will be someone there to offer
help and assistance when you need it, seven days a week !
Saving a little one way will often cost you dearly !
With legislation proposed to take effect, caravan 'engineers' will
have to show 'gas competence', this will undoubtedly show those who
are qualified or not, and this is just only on the gas systems, what
about mains electricity, the list goes on.
Further to this, most mobile mechanics will not have the advantage
of access to the latest training schemes offered by many manufacturers
and also the appliance equipment manufacturers within a modern caravan.
Trust the 'Caravan Council', 'The Caravan Club' and the 'Camping and
Caravan Club' and get it right!
It may cost a little more to have your caravan serviced by a professional,
but can you afford to get it wrong?

Notice given by Swift Group:
We wish to confirm that to keep the manufacturers warranty valid,
customers must have their vans serviced at a Swift Group Dealer or
a Swift Group Approved Repairer. In some instances in the past Swift
has accepted servicing being carried out by non Swift Approved dealer/repairers.
This practice will no longer be accepted. Customers who have previously
used a non Swift Group dealer/repairer will be written to and explained
in the future they must use an appropriate dealer. We do not envisage
that this will cause any problems and it is a small minority and we
are sure that you agree that this ensures that servicing is carried
out by technicians who are fully conversant with the product and our
technical bulletins. The wording in the handbook supports this message. |

APPROVED
WORKSHOPS
A recognised scheme that establishes a benchmark for the motorhome
and caravan service and repair industry. This meets the rigorous standards
set by The Camping and Caravanning Club, The Caravan Club and The
National Caravan Council Limited.
To be accepted on the scheme, all workshops must pass an annual inspection
by a team of independent
assessors and must comply with the scheme’s rigorous standards
for facilities and workmanship.
THE NEED FOR ANNUAL SERVICING
All responsible caravanners know how important it is to have their
tourer serviced annually.
Touring caravans are road vehicles with moving parts, wheels, chassis
and brakes, all of which need to be checked at least once a year.
In addition, internal habitation area equipment such as gas cookers,
heaters and fridges all need regular safety checks. Electrical installations
– mains and battery – require regular servicing and inspection,
too.
Most manufacturers’ warranties only remain valid if you have
an annual service and you will want to
protect your valuable investment. |
